United Way names Kristi Huber as President

MEDIA RELEASE: United Way of Cass-Clay announces new President

United Way of Cass-Clay has named a new President. On April 21, 2016, the United Way Board of Trustees announced that Kristi Huber has been named President of United Way.  Kristi will succeed outgoing President, Sher Thomsen, who has led the organization since 2011.

Kristi comes to the United Way team with extensive experience in the non-profit and for-profit sectors, with various volunteer organizations, and previous experience with United Way. She served as Resource Development Director for United Way of Cass-Clay from 2011-2014.  In her role as Vice President of the Sanford Health Foundation for the Fargo region, she leads the fundraising arm of Sanford Health.  She currently lives in West Fargo with her husband, Gregg Huber.

“I am honored to lead this organization and I am inspired by the positive change we will create in this community together. I look forward to connecting with our investors, our Non-Profit Partners, and our community, to continue the momentum the United Way team has created,” said Huber, incoming United Way President.
“We are grateful for the pivotal leadership Sher has brought to the United Way team, and appreciate her commitment to designing a future-focused succession plan. Knowing United Way is such a vital component of our community, we are proud of the transition plan that has allowed our team to focus on United Way’s work while positioning the new President for success in the future,” said Louise Dardis of ND Succeed 2020 and current Board of Trustees Chair.

When Sher was hired in 2011, she made a commitment to lead the organization for five years to accomplish a change in the investment strategy that created a comprehensive approach to helping people in need while delivering a measurable return on investment for those that give to United Way. For the past several years, United Way leadership has been actively creating and implementing a detailed succession plan. Completing the search for a new president represents the final phase of that plan. Sagency, a local executive recruitment and leadership consulting firm, facilitated a robust search and selection process with the executive committee of the Board of Trustees.

Kristi’s first day with the organization is May 23, 2016.  As part of the succession plan, Sher will stay on board with the United Way team for a period of time to ensure a smooth transition.

“It has been an honor to lead this organization and I am proud of the work we have accomplished together and the difference we have made for individuals and families in need in our community. I am grateful for the opportunity to implement a succession plan alongside the Board of Trustees that will allow the United Way team to focus our energy on our work, and those we serve,” said Sher Thomsen, outgoing United Way President.

The community is invited to a joint United Way Leadership Reception to honor outgoing President, Sher Thomsen, and congratulate incoming President, Kristi Huber, on May 23 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fargo.  All are invited to attend. Please RSVP online here.
