McLaughlin RV & Marine teams up with United Way to Celebrate Read Across America Day

McLaughlins RV & Marine, the Fargo Police Department and United Way teamed up to celebrate the 16th Annual Read Across America Day on Monday, March 2, 2017. McLaughlins RV & Marine delivered 100 books to children at two child care centers that are United Way partners.

Read Across America Day celebrates Dr. Seuss's birthday and the joys of reading. The 3 groups partnered up to read to the children some of our Imagination Library books (check out some of our videos on our Facebook page).

Across the nation, the National Education Association expects more than 45 million readers, both young and old, to pick up a book and read. The goal of celebrating Read Across America Day is to show America's children the joy of reading and build a nation of readers-on March 2nd and every day. Read Across America Day is an initiative of the National Education Association (NEA). The National Education Association is the nation's largest professional employee organization, representing 3.2 million elementary and secondary teachers, college faculty, school administrators, education support professionals, retired educators and students preparing to become teachers.

Locally, United Way distributes more than 9,000 books every month to thousands of local pre-K children through their Imagination Library program.
