LIVE UNITED: BE THE ONE 2013 Campaign Kick-Off

At this year’s United Way Kick-Off, nearly 600 people were in attendance, making it our largest Kick Off to date!

Because of the evolution of our work, we invited local economic and academic leaders to share their perspectives on how United Way is making a difference in their sectors.

Jim Gartin, President of the Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation spoke to the need of an educated and trained workforce. He lifted up statistics that our community is set to double by 2030.

Dr. Jeff Schatz, Superintendent of the Fargo Public Schools, spoke about investing in our community’s greatest resource, our youth.  The single biggest factor contributing to the academic achievement gap isn’t what you might think it would be, its poverty.

2013 Campaign Chair Jeff Thomas, SVP at Cornerstone Bank spoke about the importance about being engaged and volunteering in our community. He also lifted up our 2013 Campaign Goal of raising $5.2 million. These dollars will be invested back in the work United Way is doing in EDUCATION, INCOME STABILITY, and HEALTH.

Watch the powerful Right Here. Right Now video that addresses community statistics you might not know about right here in our community!
