Day of Caring

Each year, for one day in the fall, over 1,000 volunteers gather for a day of service, camaraderie and fun! It’s the largest one-day service event in Cass and Clay counties. Its main purpose is to help area seniors with light home repair and maintenance, but really, everyone benefits.

The 2010 19th Annual Day of Caring will be held on Thursday, October 14th from 1:00-5:00pm. Register your team to volunteer today! Seniors who would like to receive help and individuals and teams who would like to volunteer should register by October 1st.

  • Volunteers get the satisfaction of knowing they’ve directly impacted the life of a fellow community member. Not only do they see their handiwork, they also experience the gratitude of the recipient.
  • Work teams are often made of co-workers or groups of students who might not have many opportunities to gather outside their regular setting. This day is a great team-building event.
  • Seniors some much-needed projects completed without having to spend limited income on hired help. They also get a day of companionship.
  • United Way benefits from having a committed group of volunteers who get to see firsthand what it means to LIVE UNITED within a community.
