The Village Family Service Center | Truancy Intervention Program

Through a collaborative effort between Clay County and the Village Family Service Center, schools monitor student attendance and make referrals to TIP services when students reach a certain number of absent days/periods in a school year. TIP uses family advocates to meet with students and their families to address attendance concerns. Education about the consequences of truant behavior is presented and further action steps are taken if necessary.

Present women and their children with the opportunity to receive case management and supportive services (counseling, assessments of barriers to achieving self-sufficiency, and financial assistance) as long as necessary while in a secure housing situation. The YWCA Transitional Housing program has been recognized as a “model program” by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Case managers work with single women, and women and children to track outcomes regarding housing, education, employment, and health/mental health needs.  They work to prepare the individuals the opportunities to become self-sufficient again. Free childcare is offered for children in this program as well.
